difference with Jay and the other male artists is that they were already sort of established by the time Lady E stepped into their world. With him, she’s basically there at the beginning. i was at the show. front row center, waited with my girl from 4 pm just to see Mos Def right up close. never heard of Jay Electronica except that he was dating Erykah. honestly, dude sucked. i would cut him some “slack” if he didn’t come out with his comically wack-ass front man who kept bigging up how dope Jay was. i was really disappointed. Jay was even boasting as to how he is better that Kayne and 50. To quote Mos (from the show), “Everybody wants to be the Fonz”. Camile, why should we NOT judge an MC by his live show? Isn’t that what a Master of Ceremony is supposed to be all about? If Jay can’t run with the big dogs yet, he needs to stay off the porch. YA DIG?

You need to not be so hard on jay. You need to get up on your research of his music, the song erykah sang was the best song he has out “victory is in my clutches”. Jay Electronica strong black man and is passionate about his shit. If he wants to talk about something during his show im sure he had a point but we will never know because you new school fans have no attention span… out

I wasn’t at the show, but good or bad, he stepped on stage and spoke into a mic, something that about 95% of everyone reading this does not have the heart to do…so did it suck, well..kinda…do we respect it, most definitely.

don’t be so harsh on dude — people wouldn’t have been hating so much if people would have just shut up and been willing to listen (and he would have been able to say whatever he was trying to get out.) i don’t think it was as bad as everyone is trying to say it was, he’s new to the live show thing and just needs time to perfect the craft… that being said, i still have mad respect for him as an artist and i’d pay to see him again.

The song Erykah sang was “Victory is in my Cluthes”. Its available on online for free somewhere (google).

She didnt stick out her ass when he said “what you want me to rhyme about cash or the size of Erykahs ass” but that would have been funny.

When your first “song” is 15min and it is more comparable to a music suite then a 3:30 seconds then your used toogive him some credit for a rookie mistake

Yeah i still havent bout into the Jay electronica hype… and apparently neither has Nokia! I’m not saying dude isnt good? But I cant name a single song of his and neither can mos of his “fans” besides name dropping “the Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind” track… which apparently doesnt have a name.
