The Church of England’s has voted to consecrate women as bishops and approved a code of practice aimed at reassuring opponents. Nice one. (Australia’s first Anglican woman bishop, Kay Goldsworthy, pict’d above) [BBC]

SHOCKER: The CW’s Gossip Girl has awesome fashion. But again, like I always say, anything GG is going on PLR. [NYT]

There’s a new Asian American cartoon that Hyphen magazine says is more realistic than stereotypical. It’s called Three Delivery and it’s described as a mix of Flower Drum Song and Scooby-Doo, it airs Fridays at 7:30pm on the cartoon network. I’ve got to check it out. [Hyphen]

So US president Bush is on his way to the G8 next week, where he could offer to comply with the earth-saving suggestions that would help developing countries deal with all of their global warming issues (you know like earth quakes and tidal waves, etc). Oh yeah, and global warming is mostly the fault of the US. Figures. What do you think Bush will do as a lame duck president with a chance to do some good in this green movement the media keeps promoting? [Nation]

SHOCKER #2: Being gay and in the military won’t undo the US’s ability to fight: “Evidence shows that allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly is unlikely to pose any significant risk to morale, good order, discipline or cohesion,” the officers states. To support its contention, the panel points to the British and Israeli militaries, where it says gay people serve openly without hurting the effectiveness of combat operations.”

Am I just really open-minded or does this sound stupid to you too? Or, even more like an excuse for the US to recruit more troops for Operation Freedom or whatever we’re calling the war in Iraq now…hm. [CNN]
