This is the last summer Friday for 2008 so soak it up ladies! It’s grim weather here in NYC, but Jbakes and I refuse to let the sun’s disappearance stop our weekend fun in the Hamptons. We live in a crazy society where different stimuli are coming at us all the time. As such, it makes perfect sense to me that EVERYONE is checking in to rehab. So when I learned, through E!, that actor David Duchovny (better known as Fox Mulder on the X-Files) is being treated for a sexual addiction, I was not surprised. Especially since the man plays an “over-sexed struggling writer” on Showtime series Californication (pictured above). But it did make me want to learn more about sexual addiction. So I WebMD‘d it… Here’s are some behaviors associated with sexual addiction:
Compulsive masturbation
Multiple affairs
Multiple or anonymous sexual partners and/or one-night stands
Consistent use of pornography
Unsafe sex
Phone or computer sex
Prostitution or use of prostitute
After reading the definition of a sexual addict, and reading this list of behaviors, I have surmised that we are ALL potential sex addicts. Who hasn’t fallen victim to at least one of these activities? (more…)

McCain picked a chick as a running mate and every one’s pretty surprised. Sara Palin, 44, is Alaska’s first female Governor and is relatively new to America’s political arena. She’s anti-abortion, anti same-sex marriage, and a long time member of the NRA. Commenters claim this is a move to snag Hillary’s “disaffected supporters” and to put a youthful face to the Republican campaign. {Guardian}
After the big blowout that Russia and Georgia had, we knew a breakup was inevitable. Georgia officially “cut diplomatic ties with Russia,” even after Russia swallowed his pride and recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Of course that was after Russia inflicted some serious domestic abuse on Georgia. This is one nasty breakup girl. {BBC}
I believe that creativity flourishes in times of recession and war, like right now and in the 60’s and 70’s. NYC’s Museum of Modern Art explores this creativity in their “Looking at Music” exhibition that celebrates the creative experimentalism of musicians from that era, from John Lennon facial expressions in Yoko Ono’s “Film No. 5″ to David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” video.
