Don’t Be Stingaaaay! New Mickey D’s TV Spot

Friday, November 28th, 2008 | by J. Baker

“You’ve been dippin on me!”—Ronald McDonald has infiltrated R&B. This spot is priceless in it’s stupidity but cracks me up nonetheless…or maybe its that 4th margarita I just had with my parents. I think Chris Brown wishes he would have done this instead of that God-awful Wrigley’s spot.

Sidenote: Her shoes are hot.

When Retail Attacks: Black Friday Edition

Friday, November 28th, 2008 | by J. Baker

I know we are supposed to be chillaxin and all, but for real? First a dude gets stampeded to death at Walmart and then a shootout at Toys R’ US?
In Long Island, a Walmart worker was killed when shoppers stormed the doors during the opening at 5am, a pregnant woman was also knocked to the floor. Really Long Island? What in the hell is in Walmart at 5am that can kill a person? I blame the Wii. (more…)

Shawna Makes Us Clap

Friday, November 28th, 2008 | by J. Baker

Man I used to love Shawna, she had just the right amount of ’round the way girl in her and she could actually rhyme while not going all sexually ambiguous on us. I guess droppin’ it Magic City style is the new comeback move? This was taken at Luda’s show over at the Highline in NYC this week. Remember Infamous Syndicate? Wowsers.

*** I was at this show, I was kinda shocked. On the other hand, Luda rocked it. You forget how many hits this dude has until he starts rhyming. Thanks Luda! – Steels

Ok, back to our break (see below).

Happy Thanksgiving! And…

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 | by Steely D

We like turkey ’round these parts and in celebration of the luscious fried bird, (we know Miss London is laughing at us…) we’re taking a little time off. But not before we wish JBakes a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You see, Parlour was just a dream earlier this year and we can hardly believe that you ladies even like it as much as you do. But, we’re grateful (sooooooo grateful) that you surprise us with comments and clicks everyday. And you can thank JBakes for her wonderful writing and designing skills. Hell, I don’t know how to make the site pretty, but thank God she does. =0) So join with Mahogs and I in wishing JBakes a fabulous birthday with many drinks and an undisclosed number of candles (because mother said a lady never admits her age)…To Health, Wealth, Good Sex (I see you explainer) and a beautiful pair of heels that put to shame anyone else who dares walk beside them.

Cover Love: Michelle Obama

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 | by Steely D

US first lady (elect?) Michelle Obama hits the cover of Newsweek on Dec. 1. The story is about how minority now view themselves with her in the spotlight. I don’t know about you, but I definitely see a trend of Claire Huxtables on the way. Funny story, I went to Plies’ listening last night and he called one of the women in his camp his ‘Michelle.’ Mark my words ladies, get it together, and if you’ve already got it together, keep it there. We all need a Barack so we must be prepared. **Wink** Thoughts?

J-E-T-S! BRETT! BRETT! BRETT!

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 | by Sportie

For many many years, I loved Brett Favre. I routinely referred to him as my boyfriend (no we have never met LOL), and rooted for him regularly as a member of the Green Bay Packers. Brett was my dude! He always seemed to step up when it counted most, and he had that “I’m doing me right now” swagger that teenage girls (I told you I’ve been following him for many years) just adore. Not to mention, he played the game the way we all remember playing Pop Werner. With unbridled joy and enthusiasm. It is infectious, and I was drinking the Kool Aid early. This guy in New York? How could you go wrong?

So like any other fan who’s favorite player comes to her team; I went out and bought all new t-shirts, and sweatshirts, and all manner of not so awful NFL for Women gear to show my support. I changed my Facebook status. I was infected by the shiny happy football bug.

The thing is, over the first few games, I lost that loving feeling. So after they barely got by Kansas City, it was time to break up with him. (more…)
