WHAT: The Market NYC – Mulberry St Btwn Houston & Prince
WHERE: Every Saturday in November and December – 11am to 7pm
Every now and then you turn a corner and find a treasure and this was the case with my ramblings around SOHO, a shopping district in New York City, last weekend, where I stumbled upon The Market NYC.
On the way to dine on Ethiopian food at Ghanet restaurant, celebrity stylist Groovey Lew and myself decided to stop into The Market. For those unfamiliar, The Market is a makeshift showroom/boutique in a large room and features rows of tables displaying the products of young clothing and jewelry designers as well as print-makers. Many hail from Pratt Institute school of art and design and The Fashion Institute of Technology, and the room bustles like the first day of the Barney’s sample sale with high energy and low prices. I was ready to pounce on a bargain and after a quick rummage (due to my aching hunger!) I selected my two favorites and so did he:
Kim Lyons Jewelry: Beautiful stacking rings in gold.
CLO:Â Beautiful pretty little nothings. Ultra femme lingerie at CLOStudio
Cameo Sisters Designs:Â Pearls@eartlink.net
They had dope necklaces, very delicate precious stone pieces (they were a little pricey but if you have the cash stop by their booth).
Cynthia’s Chapeaux: Awesome handmade hats. She’ll measure your head and make them from her shop in Bk. Want to make an appointment, call 718 629 1192.
Also there was also a small booth on the back right hand side with a coat designed with a crazy zipper collar. The website did not work so if any of you Parlouristas hit the scene next weekend, somebody please check them out and get back to us!!!
