When I was younger one of the most popular childhood songs to sing in the nursery playground was “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” — alongside the dance. Well funky house artists Hitty, Creeper and Mr Bubbly aka K.I.G have remixed it into a track which is likely to become the hit of Summer 2009 — it’s called “Heads Shouders Kneez and Toez.”
They produced the track in a late night session at their studio in September 2008. They then took to the streets of Central London and filmed strangers doing the original childhood dance, and then uploaded the track and video onto Youtube.
It was so popular, some DJ’s started recording the track off Youtube and playing on the radio because no-one knew where the track had come from, or who was responsible for it. But it had become HUGE.
So finally the boys made a “proper” video (see above!), and the track’s due to be released at the end of March. It’s being played on radio stations up and down the country, people are doing the dance in clubs, and even Babycham and Kardinal Offishall have made remixes.
Enjoy the track!
To get your view from across the pond, Miss London Party will be your guide. Every week, she’ll be casting her eye over the big stories happening with the Brits. From fashion to entertainment to current affairs to politics, she’s got you covered. A Londoner born and bred, she’s worked as a journalist for two of the UK’s biggest broadcasters, and is currently presenting daily TV news — so she’ll be giving you an inside view on events. In her free time, she likes sitting in the pub on a Sunday afternoon, going through the newspapers, drinking a glass (actually a bottle) of wine, and tucking into a good ol’ English roast. Cliched, but true! She plays netball, swims and is ever so slightly addicted to trashy US shows on her cable TV.
