Drake X Trey Songz = Successful (Video)

Monday, August 31st, 2009 | by J. Baker

After releasing a bunch of “previews” (I mean really? Previews? This is no motion picture), Drake & Trey Songz’s video for the single “Successful” has finally be released. So this is what urban emo is? Driving around in vintage rides at night with random lens flares? I’m not mad.

Leave it to Bollywood to produce a heartfelt tribute to MJ that is better than 95% of the stuff we’ve seen here. I expected more sudden synchronized grinding and a fountain, but what I got was much better.

“In what can be easily termed as musical history, Seagram’s Royal Stag has created a special video ‘Make it Large- A tribute to Michael Jackson’, to be released on music channels across India on the 29th of August to celebrate the pop legends 51st birthday.

A celebration could not be larger than this one where the best of Indian musicians come together to pay tribute to the genius that is Michael Jackson. Written by Vishal, composed by Vishal and Shekhar, produced by Red Chillies Idiot Box, and directed by Samar Khan ‘Make it Large’ features Shankar, Shaan, KK, Shreya Ghoshal and Michael’s closest dance likeness in India-Prabhudeva.”

CoverLove: Kim K’s New Look

Monday, August 31st, 2009 | by J. Baker

I never thought that anything remotely related to Kim Kardashian could ever remind me of Marilyn Manson, but peep her cover for YRB Magazine and fashion spread. While the cover is “eh”, the supporting spread is captivating. The styling and makeup is an ode to dark glamour, and the bowl-cut wig gives Kim a new edge. Now only if her personality was as interesting. Shot by Mike Ruiz and styled by Darius Baptist and made-up by Troy Jensen, the true work is in the details, peep the rest. (more…)

Monday, August 31st, 2009 | by Steely D

Hey Ladies! So its another week of “True Blood” before they leave us for Labor Day weekend here in the states. What do we have to tied us over? Eric stalking both Sookie and Lafayette’s thoughts, Tara’s mom is still crazy, Tara is a mess and Bill meets Sookie’s cousin at the Queen’s house? But as usual, that’s not all…
.
-”They’re furry…” re. Lafayette’s handcuffs.-Why is Tara still stank to her mother? I thought she was done with the curse…
.
-The Fangtastic waitress in the pom pom shorts is annoying, still. How is she not dead yet?

-So Tara summoned Maryann? Are you serious!?! Ugh…but Eggs laughing at Maryann saying that she thought Ms Janette was possibly a vessel is actually funny.

-Well, at least we know that Jessica didn’t eat Hoyt’s mama…but damn, her telling him his father shot himself. She must be stopped. (more…)

Guess we are super late because I had no clue that Mos released a video from his album ‘The Ecstatic,’ which dropped earlier this summer. Needless to say, the track, ‘Casa Bey’ is great, and perfect for getting yourself together on a Monday morning. If you feel like digging for the original beat, check out Banda Black Rio’s Maria Fumaça album (1977), Brasilian funk at it’s finest! Watch it now! (more…)
