News Briefs: Rihanna in Bondage; MJ’s Final Farewell; Allah Inspired Comic Goes to TV; Money for Facebook Friends

Italian Vogue photographs Rihanna in bondage and everyone has something to say.  Salon’s Judy Berman expresses her outrage: “My first thoughts, as I paged through the images, were of exploitation. How could Vogue have asked a domestic violence victim to be photographed in bondage gear,” she says.  What do you think?  Are the two connected or is this merely art and we’re all just freaking out for no reason?  [Jezebel, Salon]

Kuwaiti cartoonist Naif al-Mutawa’s comic book series “The 99” is on its way to television, following the likes of The Simpsons, Boondocks and other comics that have moved from the printed page to the TV screen.  The first-ever Islamic-inspired comic series follows the life of Noora the Light, Jabbar the Powerful and their fellow crime-busters from 99 countries who use the hidden power of special Baghdad gemstones to make the world right again. Want more friends on Facebook?  With the right money, you can have whatever you want. USocial allows individuals and companies to pay $.7 per friend for 5000 friends or $.8.5 cents per friend for 10,000.  Is it really that deep?  [Ad Age]
