In case you missed it like I did…former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who was tossed out earlier this year for that text message scandal, recently went before a judge in Michigan to discuss how he’s surviving these days…and when he’s repaying that $1 million he owes the City of Detroit. Don’t forget to get Parlour’s historical rundown of Kilpatrick’s shenanigans here! His response on how he’s paying the rent on his new Texas home and the $240k in his/Carlita’s bank account?
“I did it for the cash ya’ honor”…OK, I’m kidding, but he did say this:
When asked, how are you getting money? (These quotes are abridged…and funnier, of course)
“I don’t know, it’s not my money, it’s my wife, Carlita’s.”
OK, so where is Carlita working, that she’s able to make this money?
“I don’t know if Carlita’s worked in the past year…”
The money had to come from somewhere dude, stop it…
“I got loans from business friends…”
“I dont know.”
Seriously? How about $240K from racing magnate Roger Penske, Compuware CEO Peter Karmanos, chemical magnate Jim Nicholson and Rock Financial founder Dan Gilbert and $50,000 from Businessman and Ambassador Bridge owner Manuel (Matty) Moroun?
“I don’t know.”
I do, the records show you got these moneys before you received these “loans”…what’s going on with your taxes?
“I plead the FIFTH!!!”
SMH. Somewhere in there, he says he doesn’t recall signing or cashing any of the checks he received. LOL. Ps. The Assistant Prosecutor Athina Sirangas is PISSED! Check the Detroit FreePress who’s on it, as always, with a live feed of the court session.
Ever the more reason to go vote ladies…
