New Year’s Resolve or Resolutions?

** A Parlour Promotion **

With the new year underway, more than a few of us have already forgotten, fallen back on, or simply ignored the many “resolutions” that we gave ourselves back on January 1st. Personally, I’m pretty chill because this year my resolution was not to make any, but to simply do better. From slowing down when I type to really thinking before I speak, I’ve committed myself to a personal challenge to get off of this pretty good plateau I have in life and really live. Beyond creating and writing for Parlour, traveling, and working (and working out), I think that if I push myself to go an extra 5 minutes on the treadmill, learn new software and master one of the new hobbies I picked up last year—2011 will be pretty rockin’. I don’t think of these as resolutions, but more like a commitment to take everyday to levels 8-10 as much as I can in order to be happy. Even if I backslide, the fact that I tried seems pretty satisfying—much better than “breaking” a resolution/promise.

With that said, it’s not too late to resolve to do better. I know that many of us Parlouristas literally bit off more than we could chew last year due to the holiday festivities, stress, lazy travel or just life in general. As a gift to help you lose a little of the extra weight, Weight Watchers (ok, have you SEEN Jennifer Hudson lately? I.mean.wow.) has teamed with Parlour to give our readers a free, 2-week trial to Weight Watchers Online. Again, it’s free, and it just may be what works for you to help jump start your year. The offer starts today and ends on Wednesday 1/26/2011. After the free trial, you will be charged for a 3-month subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. After the first 3 months, subscription automatically renews monthly at standard rules. For more information and to sign up, click here.

As part of our participation in this conversation around Weight Watchers and New Year’s resolutions, Weight Watchers gave me a free three-month subscription, but at 5’9″ a slim 168—I think I want to go on my own to get down to 160. So I’m passing it to a friend—sharing is always better for 2011.
