On Thursday night (February 10) Usher joined forces with Belvedere Vodka for a pre-Grammy party celebrating their new partnership with (RED) to raise proceeds for Global Fund, the world’s leading financier of programs to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Nestled in Hollywood’s Avalon nightclub, the guest list included Jermaine Dupri, Paris and Nicki Hilton, Chelsea Handler, Estelle, Latoya Luckett, Mya, Jordin Sparks and Jamie Foxx as well as former New York radio personality Fatman Scoop as the evening’s DJ.
The Atlanta-based entertainer Ursh charmed the crowd for over an hour singing and dancing to fan favorites including “Nice & Slow,” “U Make Me Wanna,” “Caught Up,” “Love in this Club” and “OMG.”
Aside from the Confessions singer’s performance, the audience also got to watch a scuffle between Jamie Foxx and a few unknown men, though their wrestling took nothing away from the lively ambiance.
According to Belvedere, the specially designed fundraiser edition bottles, designed by Carsten Höller, to help raise awareness and eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa, will be available for consumers this holiday season. Since its launch in 2006, (RED) who is partnered with companies such as Nike, American Express (UK), Apple Inc., Starbucks, and Converse, has already raised over $160 million where more than 5 million people in Africa have been reached with testing, counseling, treatment, and other services.
As Fatman Scoop hyped the crowd and encouraged them to raise their glasses to celebrate the fight against HIV/AIDS, along with Usher, the campaign pitted against one of the leading causes of death among brown people looks likes it’s got more of a fighting chance.
