Collaborations between fashion and automotive brands are nothing new. Whether Eddie Bauer and Ford Explorer or Bugatti Veyron and Hermes, there’s no question that the aesthetics of car and fashion design are closely related. The two Italian brands have joined forces to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and Gucci’s 90th anniversary by creating this one-of-a-kind vehicle. Available in black and white, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini worked closely with Fiat’s Centro Stile to ensure that every aspect of the car incorporated the essence of both brands — from Gucci’s red and green signature stripes and interlocking GG logo to Fiat’s classic model design. But it’s the sales strategy that makes this collaboration so interesting.

Just like shopping for a new pair of shoes or a jacket on your favorite e-commerce site, the Fiat 500byGucci will be initially available exclusively online. Customers can pay a deposit, order it directly from the factory, track the car’s progress, make a final payment and arrange special delivery of the car to their home. Of course,  if you want to test the merchandise before hand, you can sign up to do that online as well and your local dealer will call you with a time to set up an appointment.
