In a world where every day products are artificial, it is comforting to know there are still natural things we can enjoy like Beecology.
I enjoy using products and brands that are naturally sourced, aren’t harmful to the environment and work; whether it be creating softer skin or cleaner hair. With this viewpoint, a friend of mine told me to check out Beecology, a six year old natural skincare and hair company. Wasting no time, I got in touch with the co-founder, Amy Rzepka, to find out the history behind the company.
Amy and David Rzepka, founders of Beecology, are beekeepers who with their family, specialise in making products from honey and beeswax. They started off making lip balm with their excess beeswax and after experimenting with different recipes, came up with one they loved. They tested their products on family and friends who all agreed their products were great.
The Rzepka’s became very aware of the impact that changes in human environment have on the bees they tended to, and just how connected our environments are to each other. That’s when they decided they wanted to make products from honey and beeswax that would be good for people and the environment, becoming the philosophy behind Beecology.
They do a whole line of products; from body washes to hand-made soaps, shampoo, conditioner and a signature hand and body lotion, so there is something for everyone. And if you thought these products were something only women cared about, you’d be mistaken. I even tested the Honey and Peppermint Body Wash products a gentleman friend of mine.
“I use body washes pretty regularly,” he said. “I liked Beecology was because it was a vicious enough mixture to lather up really well on the skin and really feel like it was cleaning but also wash off easily and not leave any residue. As a guy I don’t like to feel greasy and I really appreciate a body wash that comes off but doesn’t dry you out. It washed off but left me smelling like honey for a few hours. The ladies like it, so I love it.”
And as for Beecology’s Original Honey Hand & Body Cream, it nurtures skin with the antioxidant power of Cupuacu, the famous moisturizing properties of Shea butter, and olive oil lotion. Their very own honey gives the olive oil lotion a light, delicate scent and sweetly harmonizes with beeswax and bee-derived propolis to lock in moisture. This blend of exotic natural moisturizers from around the world creates a cream with extraordinary smoothness and a never-greasy feel, which transcends into total hand and body care.
The company also lets consumer’s decide what charity to donate 10% of their net profits to so every Beecology purchase makes a positive impact on society. Check out Beecology.
