Yesterday, our post about one very stupid magazine editor calling Rihanna one very stupid term blazed around the Internets and eventually made it’s way to Rih-Rih herself. If you thought Rihanna was going to take the high-road and stay mum while being called a “niggabitch,” obviously you’ve never met a Bajan woman, or any self-respecting feisty lady for that matter. Rihanna took to her Twitter account to call Jackie magazine editor Eva Hoeke directly:
Full Tweet: “@evajackie I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000’s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past! You put two words together,”
Full Tweet: “@evajackie with the intent of abasement, that made no sense…”NIGGA BITCH”?!….Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you…FUCK YOU!!!”
Well there you have it. When reviewing the very heated comments this morning, it was interesting to see how phrases like “she got what she deserved” or “what did she expect?” floating around, or lax explanations on how Jackie’s poorly constructed article could honestly be taken as a joke. Anyone else reminded of the excuses rapists give when asking why they’d violated a woman against her will? As content creators, it is our responsibility to have a global awareness and perspective — no matter who the subject is. So yes, Rihanna flaunts her curves — but no person, naked or fully clothed deserves to be called a “niggabitch.” And really … who says that?
