Big K.R.I.T.’s ‘Live From The Underground’ LP Listening: The Parlour Review

Last night, Shannon and I trekked up to New York City’s 38th street for our homie Big K.R.I.T.‘s listening session of his debut album Live From The Underground. Due out June 5, K.R.I.T. has put together a great mixture of southern-tinged basslines, soulful samples and witty lyrics — unfortunately I could barely hear the greatness because the listening party was 400 degrees sans Juvenile and maddeningly packed. However, I’m sure we’ll get to listen to Live From The Underground at another time but if not, I fully support K.R.I.T. and his talent and I know he won’t serve up any bullshit disguised as an album. Just before the event, I found K.R.I.T. tucked away inside the back of a black Suburban parked on the street, he was looking out at the swarm of hundreds trying to get into a studio that fits maybe 90 people comfortably. As I made jokes that he and his manager were too high class to stand on the street next to the garbage bags like the rest of us, it was obvious that K.R.I.T. felt a little overwhelmed as he apologized for the trash and the wait. How cute and that was the polite thing to say, but that craziness wasn’t his fault.

Anyway, here’s Big K.R.I.T.’s Live From The Underground tracklisting below via MTV and check out his latest video, “I Got This,”:
