Whether its food, music or film, you already know we love a good festival. And beginning tomorrow, the Black Star Film Festival will make it’s inaugural debut in Philadelphia—the first of it’s kind for the city of brotherly love, and we want to give you our Parlour passes to attend! Featuring over thirty films focused on our made by people of African descent, the Black Star Film Festival is a four day event that has something for everyone, from cinema buffs to folks who just love a good story.
In addition to great films, the festival will also have a pop-up market full of local and national handcrafted wares and an art exhibit featuring the Shaolin Jazz Collective.
We have a full Black Star experience that can be yours: a pair of tickets to see Philadelphia premiere of Soul Food Junkies, a humorous PBS documentary focusing on African American culinary traditions on Sunday August 5th. We also have a pair of tickets to the Philly vs. Brooklyn closing party, happening right afterwards!
So you want to go? All you have to do is head over to our Facebook Page and tell us what your favorite Black film of all time is and why. The best post to our wall wins! Extra bonus if you include a link to the trailer too! A winner will be chosen on Friday, August 3rd. Transportation won’t be provided but we can send you an Amtrak schedule! Good luck and see you in Philly!
