About

Wake up in New York, go to bed in Paris. It’s face-timing friends from an authentic Jamaican bashment in East London, and live-tweeting a South African designer runway show in Brasil. A calendar full of global, vibrant, connected and current culture. This is what we call living.

This is how we do. This is Parlour and we #TravelFly.

For over five years, Parlour Magazine has been a top online destination for Black women in search of the ever better. And through the lens of global travel and style—we have been there to give it her. From planning her next trip, to creating the hottest itinerary and arriving in style, the editors and contributors of Parlour work in earnest to make sure that we are providing the very best in a manner that no one else is. We know she lives between many worlds, and no matter where she is—we’re right there with her.

Join us as we continue to bring the best of the world all to her in one place. With Parlour.

It’s impossible for Shannon to answer the question “What do you do?” in one sentence. But in short, she’s a Creative Director by day and world traveller on the weekend. In addition to being the founder and creative director of Parlour, Shannon manages a successful career in advertising as a Senior Creative Director in New York City.

After graduating from Howard University in 2002, Shannon started her career as a creative, crafting creative and digital strategies and campaigns for brands such as Maybelline, Perrier, Pantene, Diageo, Pandora, Rimmel, and Pepsi. Shannon is an active advocate for ushering young women of color into the advertising industry, and is also the founder of the Feminist Enough video project, a video storytelling series aimed at bringing feminist ideas to a younger audience.

When not in front of a computer, Shannon hits the road to see the world. To date, she has burned through two passports and has created an international network of friends who have slowly become family. When she’s not crafting new ideas and managing Parlour, Shannon can be found on her stoop in Brooklyn with her dog, Miko Miles Davis.
