Contemporary furniture company & retailer Ligne Roset just unveiled their newest collection over in Paris at the Maison & Objet Show recently. I love Ligne because, like Bo Concept, they offer great modern design that stands out, but unlike say…*coughing* DWR you don’t feel like you are just getting a really expensive knock-off. Why: What is a trivet you ask? Only the best way to protect the precious surfaces of your home from heat or water damage when entertaining, etc. The design is very contemporary, with materials that are cozy and touchable. Since the at-home cocktail party is the thing to do now, do it in style…and encourage home training for that one beastly guest who always tends to show up.

So one of my fave designers, Vivienne Westwood, is not only holding a candle for the aging punk, she’s designing wallpaper! This is swatch above is entitled Trompe l’oeil Drape and is part of her partnership with Cole & Sons. If I wasn’t nervous about removing the design after I move out of my apt (no plans, but you know we New Yorkers move every two-three years, unless you find a rent stabilized apt…), I’d throw some up.

Remember that saying about “not throwing stones in a glass house?” I’m pretty sure that the owners of this gem, designed by Nico Van Der Mulen Architects of South Africa have it hung on there wall…in extra large type. Simply beautiful. (more…)

Why: It’s just pretty to look at, and comfy to sit in. Composed of microfiber, resin and steel it’s a new take on bringing the outside in.
