Where can you ski, watch great new movies and feel up Adrian Grenier and Ricki Lake? (More on that later.) Sundance, baby! Best described as “cold and awesome,” Park City, Utah, in January is all about the Sundance Film Festival. I dropped in last week for a few days of tomfoolery in the mountains, and had a ball. I can’t tell you who won what jury prize (I left before all that stuff happened), but I can tell you that between the beautiful scenery and the beautiful people, this is one trip I’d love to take again.

So I didn’t ski—not out of some twisted belief that Black folks don’t ski (Howard students took a huge ski trip every year, thank you) but because I’m not fond of the cold. But a few of my friends did, and all they could talk about was the amazing powder, and how it beat skiing in Colorado hands down. Whatever. (more…)

Almost two weeks ago, I found myself in Oslo, Norway for a weekend getaway with one of the homies. Now–I’m always one to pack up and go anywhere, but Oslo was not exactly on my list of must-see cities. However, after a weekend there, I have to say that I had a blast! We spent a day touring the city and evening and night partying it up with some of Norway’s finest.  Check out a few photos below the jump. (more…)

I’m heading to Oslo for the weekend, so I thought I’d leave you guys with this lovely image of Frognerparken/Vigelands Parken–a popular destination filled with naked statues.  Definitely my kind of place!   Have a lovely weekend!

For my New York/East Coast sisters, I give you Newport, Rhode Island as this week’s frugal vacay destination.

Why? It’s scenic, complete with miles of beach front road and a tour of historic mansions. It’s close to the tri-state area, and filled to the brim with adorable bed n’ breakfast lodging. Only thing I’d suggest is the make sure your bed isn’t squeaky if you go with your boo…nothing weirder than trying to get it in and waking up the whole house who stares at you angrily at breakfast the next morning…or maybe that’s just me…Enjoy!

Why: In honor of Steely’s voyage to South America today, I dug up some of the cutest luggage tags ever. After witnessing two women lose their composure in London because they both had the same bag, tied with similar ribbons to “mark” them, I knew it was time to invest in a luggage tag combo that was cute, unique and wouldn’t get caught on the conveyor belt.

I’m going to Buenos Aires, Argentina today with my best friend!

I have a connection in Brazil, pray for me, they’re shooting down planes out there and apparently I have cousins I need to find, but that’s another story…What do you think ladies? Have you been? Any parts I should make a point to see?
