Remember how we said we were gonna crash this one, well it actually was easier than imagined. Gotta love overzealous door people though. The Parlour crew was in the building last night in NYC to get a first glance at Common’s new clothing run in collaboration with Microsoft, called…wait for it…SOFTWEAR! Above is some footage from the event of Common rocking his new single, “Universal Mind Control”.
We’re still not sure if this is just a capsule collection of the beginning of something permanent, but we did manage to get some images of the line—judge for yourself. We are kinda lovin’ the “Super Human Being” shirt… Here is a peek at the goods:

The Verdict? We Like. The designs are clean, nostalgic and have a much desired simplicity, good enough for a “one-off” line and a little more consumer friendly than what we have seen of Pastelle…speaking of Kanye, during a freestyle last night, Common kicked this line” I’m the Michael Jackson to Kanye’s Elvis“….yup. Interesting, considering that Kanye basically just put it out there that he wants to be bigger than The King.

Soooo after that was done, we along with what seemed like the entire crowd went over to the Complex ‘Premium Goods’ event at Marc Ecko studio and guess who we ran into? I wish Terita was there, especially after she wrote this one:

Our soon to be ex-Knicks homie, Stephon Marbury, playing it low-key with D-Nice while he was spinning. Overall, another random, industry fueled night in NYC. We love to hate, but we love it nonetheless.
Need more Common in your life? Check out what happened when we dropped in the studio this past Spring here.
