The Friday Flicks: “Wolverine” and “Girlfriends”

The summer movie season kicked into full gear last weekend with two big movies opening. One just for the ladies, the other… not so much.
First there was the shirtless wonder Matthew McConaughey as the notorious bachelor Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Co-starring Jennifer Garner, Michael Douglas and Breckin Meyer, this romantic comedy is about a guy who can’t commit (so original) until he has a Christmas Carol-esque experience. It is SUPPOSED to be good (I hate to admit it but I tend to like dumb romantic comedies like this… I have no idea why) and worse case scenario you ladies get to see Matthew on the big screen for two hours. I hear you all love him.

Now, on to the real movie we all wanted to see. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the latest in the Marvel flick franchise. As the title obviously states, the film is an origins story of everyone’s favorite ill-tempered mutant and stars as Hugh Jackman as the titular character. The film also stars Liev Schreiber, (yes, that and Ryan Reynolds. And despite the film leaking online a few weeks ago, word is there are two “easter egg” endings (those scenes that occur after the credits) that will keep the butts in seats. Peep the trailer here:

I will see you at the box office. And if you saw me coming out of Obsessed, please don’t judge.
