VH1’s Hip Hop Honors Gets Dirty!

Last night in NYC, Mahogs and I repped Parlour at VH1’s Hip Hop Honors, which celebrated the Dirty South aka Texas, Florida, Virginia Beach and Atlanta. Hosted by comedian Craig Robinson, who held his own in a position made popular by Tracy Morgan, the show — which airs Monday, June 7th at 9/8c — honored southern heavyweights Master P (No Limit Records), J Prince (Rap-A-Lot Records), Organized Noise (Outkast, Goodie Mob, etc), Timbaland, Luke Campbell and The 2 Live Crew.

The Verdict? Fun! Outside of the standard production hiccups and retakes, whenever you can see Bone Crusher and Khujo shirtless… it’s gonna be a good time. We were a little on the fence when we heard that Plies had to pull out at the last minute and Outkast wouldn’t be present, but when you think about it if you had ALL of the south there, there would be no room for the audience. If we can be honestly, which we always are, we’re still mad that Big Boi and Andre 3K didn’t show but then again where was 8Ball & MJG, Scarface, Jeezy, Ludacris… hell, Crime Mobb? Not to mention local mixtape heros like OJ Da Juiceman, Big K.R.I.T — who signed to Def Jam yesterday — and Yo Gotti.

Anytime we get to bounce to Luke and 2 Live Crew we have to break out our daisy dukes, so don’t wear heels when you watch the show next week. You will dance, you will turn your head to to side when you back it up and bounce like it’s 1999 all over again. #welovewhatyouusedtobejuvenile

Peep some of our fave moments from the show below:

Lil Romeo reps with his dad, Master P, for No Limit Record's tribute.

Juvenile, and his Saints Tee; Gucci Mane came out for No Limit.

Drake held it down for Pimp C & Texas (we are ignoring the t-shirt) and Pitbull made us appreciate MIA style all over again.

TIP introduced us to Atlanta and managed to simultaneously cause a screamfest. Heeeeey Clifford!

Dem Franchise Boyz helped us remember why Snap Music lasted for about… four seconds. What? No white tees?

Awww skeet skeet skeet! Yup… we are still wondering how network censors are gonna handle this appearance by Lil John & The Ying Yang Twinz.

Bow Wow as Kriss Kross…

Nelly and Murphy Lee held it down for Outkast.

Missy & Fabolous take it VA for Timbaland.

Honorees Jermaine Dupri, Luke “Uncle Luke” Campbell, Rico Wade of Organized Noise.

OK, no more spoilers! We are leaving out the 2Live Crew pictures…. you kinda just have to see it on TV, much better that way. Trust!
