My name is Charmaine and I’m a new Parlourista, checking in from England. I work at an Aveda Salon and Spa in South-West London and wanted to share with you one of the amazing things we have there in our product range. I have been using Aveda products for a long time and one of my favourites (out of many!) has to be the Aveda Dry Remedy Conditioner. And, no, this isn’t a commercial, the conditioner really has been a staple in my shower caddy for over one year now and with good reason.
I have tried my fair share of hair conditioners; my hair is chemically texturised, quite dry and can become very brittle when there is not enough moisture in it, so it is absolutely paramount that I use a conditioner that replenishes any lost moisture. I have tried drugstore to premium brands, and have found nothing feels quite like this.
The vanilla-hued, rich, creamy texture feels as luscious in the hand as it does on hair. The aroma consists of various essential oils including: Palmarosa; derived from lemongrass, Ylang Ylang; extracted from flowers of a tropical tree by the same name, and Rose Geranium; extracted from the Pelargonium plant, is light and refreshing. And the key ingredient; Buriti oil, derived from the Buriti palm tree in Brazil, has great moisturising properties, and is therefore perfect for those with dry, coarse, brittle, or textured hair. In short, ideal for anyone whose hair needs a bit more … love!
I use Dry Remedy Conditioner after shampooing. Instructions advise to rinse after applying, however I have found the longer it is left on the hair, the more the benefits. Leave on for about 10 minutes, or if you have more time on your hands, try applying a generous amount (avoid roots and concentrate product on mid-lengths to ends only if you have fine hair or hair that tends to get greasier than drier) and wrap hair in a warm towel. The heat from the towel will help the product to penetrate deeper into the hair, and using this method works great as a weekly conditioning treatment. When you’re done, rinse. Your hair will be soft, moisturised and tangle-free. And your hair will thank you for it.
