DJ Double O’s House Grooves: THROWBACK!

It’s Double O! From Kidz In The Hall! This month, my boy graciously gives us ladies a lovely electro, hip-hop and international mix that I’m rocking as I write this. Check out his likes, dislikes and what made him become a DJ below and make sure you catch the Kidz’s new MTV2 online reality show entitled “Here Now” on Kidzinthehall!

Shout to our boo Dan, of course and go team indie hip-hop!

When and how did you start spinning?

DJ GQ from Juice, played by Omar Epps, got me amped to DJ. For many folks in my generation I think Juice is the quintissential DJ-based hip-hop movie. That film made ask my parents for a turntable and mixer for Christmas that year.

What’s your favorite song to play at the height of the party?

That depends on the crowd. A more hip-hop crowd would more than
likely want to hear the “hottest record in the club” at that point. A
House Electro Crowd might just want a certain type of energy but
ideally you want to feed off of the crowd and figure out that one record
that’ll push the party over the top.

What did you want to be when you were little?

Astronaut, bus driver and mechanical engineer.

Who are you DJ idols?

Jazzy Jeff, A-trak, Kid Capri and DJ AM. I’ve always been a party DJ at
heart so anyone who can match great turntablism with a great party

Who is the most interesting person in the world?

Everyone is interesting in their own way. If you take the time to sit
and meet a perfect stranger I guarantee you there will be parts of
their life that amaze you.

What’s your favorite country to visit outside of America?

The U.K., it’s kind of like America but culturally richer because it’s
been around longer. Musically they take more chances as well so I
appreciate their underground music scenes.

What’s your favorite saying?

Do that shit!!

What piece of clothing do you wear everyday, barring undies?

A watch, it feels very odd without one.

What’s the last thing you bought to wear?

A pair of army surplus jungle boots. It’s Jodeci time bitches!!

Favorite guilty pleasure?

Reality TV

What’s your favorite movie?

Five favorite songs?

Cee-lo’s “Fuck You”
Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”
Swedish House Mafia’s “One”
Bruno Mars’ “Liquor Store Blues” featuring Damian Marley
Kidz in The Hall’s “Walkin On Air” (not out yet, Ha!)

What’s your definition of a good day?

One without any major fires that need to be extinguished.
