Cornel West Calls US President Obama ‘A Thermometer,’ DSK Accuser Didn’t Ask For Money, Idris Elba’s ‘Luther’ Gets a Pre-Quel, French Banks Give Greece 15 Billion, Norway Police Continue Interrogation

It’s no secret that Professor Cornel West has been critical of US President Obama. In a recent NY Times interview he was asked what he’d say to Obama now. “I’ll put it this way, brother: You’ve got to be a thermostat rather than a thermometer. A thermostat shapes the climate of opinion; a thermometer just reflects it. If you’re just going to reflect it and run by the polls, then you’re not going to be a transformative president. Lincoln was a thermostat. Johnson and F.D.R., too.” [NYTimes]
