Dude, Rihanna‘s global dance hit “We Found Love” is my video of 2011. While I knew the track would be a global hit but I was convinced the stabbing beats and pop-racked chorus wasn’t for me … until I watched the video. Can you say addicted? I watched Rihanna’s clip so many times, I’m a bit too embarrassed to write it down. It’s perfection, the right balance between drawing on her personal life and good acting and I don’t even mind that it might be a straight derivative of a Doc Marten advertisement. Who cares? We found love in a hopeless place!?!? *screams while jumping up and down* On another note, I bet even Rihanna is surprised by how much of a controversial artist she’s become since 2010. Read the rest

Wow. I must say I knew Rihanna‘s “We Found Love” was a hit when I first heard it but I didn’t really care, you know? Like a Britney Spears song that everyone loves and you’d rather just listen to Adele again. But this video, directed by Melina Matsoukas and shot around the U.K., is actually really interesting. It’s a look at overly-passionate love and perhaps a peek into Rih-Rih’s car fight with Chris Brown … depicted with a guy that looks like Chris Brown. Meta.
